Dear Valued Customer,
A succession of typhoons across China during July has caused significant disruption across Shanghai, Ningbo and major South China gateways.
Typhoons Maysak, Bavi and Noul brought severe weather, temporary port restrictions, and interruptions to landside transport throughout the month of July.
Typhoon Bavi directly affected Shanghai and Ningbo, resulting in port closures, extended vessel waiting times and confirmed port omissions.
Typhoon Noul subsequently disrupted Guangdong and Hong Kong, adding further pressure across South China.
Super Typhoon Dolphin is now being closely monitored as it is due to possibly reach land later this week.
Clients should anticipate:
• Delayed vessel departures and arrivals
• Changes to scheduled ETDs and ETAs
• Missed cargo cut-offs and slower terminal processing
• Container availability and transhipment delays
• Flow-on delays to deliveries in Australia and New Zealand
Even after port operations resume, vessel bunching, high yard utilisation and accumulated cargo volumes may continue to affect schedule reliability.
AVION International Australia recommends allowing additional lead time and avoiding firm delivery commitments based solely on original sailing schedules.
Please contact your AVION representative if you have urgent or time-sensitive cargo moving through China.
Should you have any questions regarding this, please contact your account manager or our customer service team. We appreciate your continued support and thank you for your understanding.
